Kala Chana are round, brown/black colored members of the pea family. Black chickpeas, also known as Bengal Gram. It is widely used in Indian cuisines.

    Kala chana, also known as Bengal gram, is a small, brown chickpea. Kala chana is a chickpea variety that is about two sizes smaller than the beige-colored chickpea (garbanzo), commonly found in Japan, which is about 1cm in size. It's also sometimes called brown chana, black chana, brown chickpea, black chickpea, or kala chana.

    Chana dal, a rich and flavorful bean, is made by removing the skins and halving kala Chana.

    These dark brown beans are delicious in curry, but they can also be simmered in sweets or soaked in water to germinate and make a sprout salad.

    Tip: 

    Before cooking, wash the beans thoroughly, changing the water several times. Thorough washing removes dirt and allows them to absorb water, making them easier to cook. After soaking them in water for a while, boil them until soft.
